I grew up in Fort William and this building was on the corner of the busiest spot in downtown - Syndicate and Victoria. Chapples department store. They had the building across the street too - the "annex" which sold furniture and appliances where I worked as a delivery boy driving truck for a summer in 1970. I didnt know this at the time but according to Wiki it was built as a Canadian Grain Exchange office, but the business moved to Winnipeg in the 1920's. My mom worked upstairs I think for a time and then for lawyer Bernie Shaffer (Paul Shaffer's dad) in the Twin City Gas building just up Syndicate where the court house is now.
