I didn't listen to the bad reviews and booked a night in this hotel while passing through thunder bay..... I should have listened... The building itself is beautiful, the location is nice and hidden away. However, I can say I've never had an experience at a hotel like this one... and not in a good way. I arrived after driving 10 hours. I went to my room to find clothes (under garments) from the previous guest still in the drawers, food in the hallways including a half eaten burger on the wooden panel displaying the room number, a human nail clipping in the bed sheets as well as a filthy floor that looked like it hasn't been cleaned in weeks. I called the front desk and expressed my concerns. They said they could put me in a new room. I asked if the new one will be clean as I have been driving for 10 hours and I'm tired. His response was "well, that's not my problem but I'll get you a new room." I arrived at my new room to find hair in the sink as well as bathtub, sheets with stains and hair in them, floors also looked like they haven't been washed in weeks, and surfaces weren't even as much as dusted. I was so disgusted at this point that I decided to leave and go to a new hotel within 20 minutes of arrival. I did book through a 3rd party company and told them the situation. They informed me they would have to reach out to the hotel and confirm I did in fact leave and they would be able to send me a refund for my stay. The hotel has been actively avoiding their calls and emails, thus delaying my refund. I did receive an email tonight saying the hotel has been less than cooperative and disputing my claims. I escalated my case in hopes I will hear some good news about my refund in 24 hours. Moral of the story.... listen to the bad reviews. Yes, it is a pretty hotel with a unique style. However, I wouldn't suggest this place to my worst enemy. Just incase you don't believe me, I've included a few pictures.

Rooms: Very well appointed rooms. Beds are comfortable but pillows are sometimes a bit lumpy (regular stays with work). Walkability: Arthur Street provides some amenities west of the Expressway, but most conveniences are 10-15 minute walk away, at a minimum. Grocery/Walmart is within 5-10 minutes. Noteworthy details: Walls are somewhat thin, so if you're a light sleeper, you may be awoken from loud guests in hallways or adjacent rooms.
