The Standard Loft Residences

This complex is such a blight on the neighbourhood. The site is constantly swirling with garbage. The surface parking lot has become a hang-out spot for groups of noisy, intimidating people who treat it like their personal auto repair shop. Close to a dozen open garbage dumpsters clog the parking lot, collecting rats and rainwater. The whole place is nasty and the management company seems to have zero interest in improving things. Prospective renters beware.

If the utter lack of grounds maintenance is any indication how Berkley Properties manages this building, then I would avoid Standard Lofts like the plague. Dont be duped by their marketing - there is nothing luxury about this place. The grounds are poorly maintained, constantly strewn with litter and dilapidated garbage & recycling bins sit uncovered in an open and accessible area. Its a blight on our neighbourhood and Berkley Properties should be ashamed.

This is long overdue. I'm honored to be able to tell the rest of Toronto about this atrocity of an apartment building and management. Let's get started: 1) Garbage trucks will come at anytime of the day or night...yes even 5am on a Sunday. The dumpsters are located in the CENTER of the parking area which means every apartment faces them. They will drive you crazy. I complained to the city, came out at 5am to stand in front of the trucks, complained to management for years. Nothing was done. 2) "Propert Manager" Gisella is rude, disorganized and frankly not very helpful. I could list many examples but just trust me on this one. 3) Your packages will be left in the lobby or the opposite buildings lobby. This is usually the delivery companies neglect. Your packages will be stolen. The cameras dont work and if you do request the footage to see who stole the packages...the system is conveniently being "fixed". 4) When we moved in the cable TV outlet didnt work. We asked for it to be fixed. They did an evaluation and realized the line was cut when putting in new hardwood laminate...so the whole floor would have to be removedto fix it. They basically said were out of luck. 5) Black mold was found in the bathroom. We had to live through a week of no bathroom and werent given any accommodations while it was fixed. We had no shower fofor over a week. 6) Cockroaches. Enough said. 7) Hired a property manager with face tattoosand expected us to trust him. 8) Parking garage is falling apart. 9) Fob system was broken often. 10) Gave them 58 days noticed ( 2 days short of 2 months) and they charged us for the full 2 months even though they filled the unit. I'm sure theres more I'm forgetting. Just don't move in here basically!
