Sorry, didn't have a good experience with Lisa. I've seen her here-and-there since 2018. At start of an RMT session, Lisa would ask me, "what do you want to work on today?" At the session on Dec. 31, 2022, I replied, "I just want a relaxing massage." I believe Lisa had an issue with my response at the get-go and may have felt that I am there for the wrong reasons, since she is regarded as a serious "healer" of athletic injuries by her clients. During our session, Lisa seemed to be hunting & probing for hidden problems and even arguing about perceived pain in my body (which I didn't have at that time-no known injuries), badgering me with numerous questions & pinpointing possible future problem areas. Then she was also selling me spinal acupuncture on the spot, which I have refused for personal reasons. She made it known to me that she thinks I was refusing acupuncture because I am not open & committed to healing (even though I didn't feel any issue/pain in the first place). Following this, I sense negative energy from her, and there were several weird comments that came after. At one point, she was half-chuckling (joking/being facetious, perhaps?) and said, "Oh Jen, I don't know...you must really dislike your body or something, that it prevents you from seeking treatment..." There were other jabs and condescending remarks that were directed at me, such as, "oh you must think I am a slow poke. But I am not. I know more than you think..." etc. I was face down and reduced to tears on the massage table. Afterwards, when she asked me to turn over, I assumed she was to work on my neck. I asked her to please not stretch the right side of my neck due to my past Intra-Vascular Artery Dissection (IVAD). She was not happy with the request, and made it known that I was interfering with her work. As a client, I have the right to be the decision maker of my health, but I was made to feel inept at it. I understand now that the very moment I felt uncomfortable with her, I should have ended the session or have spoken up. However, I was truly just in shock the whole time. Still shaken by the experience a day later, I had texted her about my feelings on how the session went. I mentioned that there were inappropriate & triggering comments uttered to me that made me feel belittled and insulted (especially the "you must really dislike your body..." comment). Instead, I received a long-winded response from her, deflecting to my emotional state and presence of mind (or lack thereof) during the session, with no accountability at all for her minimizing comments. Part of her response was as per her clinical assessment, I had "a huge emotional release after the eccentric activation of the contractured tissue at your PSIS/SI (R)". Sure, I understand that emotional trauma can get trapped in muscles, but I was clear at the beginning that what I needed at the time was a relaxing massage as a nice treat for my body. Instead, I was served a platter of traumatizing incidents. Sure enough, Lisa recommended me to see a Psychotherapist, inferring I have issues dealing with released pent-up emotional traumas; to learn to re-focus and communicate better; and get back to the 'here and now' because my body gets restless and unable to handle when these emotions are released by her at trigger points. In fact, I was restless in the first place because of her inappropriate comments and negative energy that were too much to handle. Unfortunately, I felt like I was ambushed in the session, causing me great deal of stress & emotional trauma in the coming days. I have no doubt that, to some, Lisa is a capable healer. But from my experience, I don't understand why she had used bitter aggressive language/tones during my treatment. I wish she could have delivered her message and intentions of healing in a kinder way, more exemplary of a true healer. Too bad Lisa is unaware that she can be abrasive. Never going back to her; simply not a good match and not a safe space. Addendum: So. Still no apology for your comment? You know what you said and that really triggered me.
