I have nothing but the best memories from my years at JDD. Though I'm sure the staff & teachers have since changed since was there in 1996. Without the help from the teachers like Mary Lou, Patty & Marsha, plus, social workers Chris, Danny & Mark a.k.a. Potsy , I would have dropped out of high-school in Grade 9 & never graduated as I did in 2001. My years at JDD were the best years I ever had at school & I'm grateful to be an Alumni

Incredibly traumatic. Do NOT send your kids here. The staff (especially the principal) emotionally manipulated me so I wouldn't break the rules. A horrible experience that I wouldn't wish on anyone. The teachers were really amazing, but it's not worth it when the rest of the staff were so awful. Edit: Notice how all of the 1 star reviews are from kids who actually experienced this awful place, and the good reviews are from parents. This place prioritizes functioning and appearances over actually caring about your child and their well-being. There needs to be a balance between functioning well and ones own mental health. Do NOT send your kids here, they will start to hate their life more than they already do.

Still one of the most traumatic experiences Ive had. My grades did improve but only because of the fear based tactics the staff used to manipulate me. I was having daily panic attacks and was not given help from staff, often if I was struggling I was put to the side because I could regulate better than others. Broke my trust, reinforced my fear of schools, and never once took accountability for their actions. The only people who helped me were two of the teachers, everyone else is abusive and do not treat people with kindness or respect. Please do not send your child here you will only M their resistance to school stronger. They are unbelievably uneducated on mental health and they will not treat you with any decency. Edit: forgot to mention that they took photos of me without my consent, took my phone and did not allow me to contact either of my parents and consistently invalidated and crossed my boundaries. This school was horrible and evil and I still am angry about my treatment there.
