Dr. Vivien Chan & Associates - Danforth Optometrists

Dr Chen is great. Its her staff that are unimpressive. I had an appointment at 12:15 and at 12:49, I asked if there was a delay. I also told them I booked another appointment somewhere else did they get me pre-screened. Also, two other people went before me and Im sure one of them was late based on what I heard. I wonder if I didnt speak out if I would have been pre-screened. I expect better treatment. Dr Chen is great but her staff are less so.

Very disappointed. We have been long term patients. Called to make an appointment and told they are booked for the next two months and not taking any appointments for after that time. Really not acceptable. We'll be finding a new eye doctor. Booking more than two-months out is not an unreasonable expectation.

Dr. Chan is a wonderful eye doctor. She has guided me through my journey to achieve improved eyesight. I had cataract and lens replacement surgeries over the holidays with her referral to a surgeon. Dr. Chan took the time to go over the full follow-up and kindly listened to my questions, providing excellent advice. My vision is fantastic now- Thank- you Dr. Chan!

One of the receptionists has a very scatterbrained/chaotic energy and style of interacting which makes the experience here much more difficult than it needs to be. I avoid speaking to her because it just gets messy. I am sure she means well. But interacting with the other two administrative staff members is sooo much easier.

We've been going to Dr Chan's office for years and have referred many people because of the excellent care her team provides. Lately, however, they have elected to make booking an appointment a Herculean task. I called in November and was advised that they were booking into February and to call back in the new year. I called today (Jan 11th) and was advised that the next appointment was in March or April. But if I needed one after 4PM (pretty standard for school-age children, IMO) they couldn't tell me when an appointment would be available. I'd have to call back in March. But... then when would an actual appointment be available? Who knows. When I said I'd pick a different time of day, she asked what date I wanted. Rather that going through the cat and mouse game naming dates, I asked for the next available date. But the person on the phone couldn't tell me when that would be. What? Is there not an appointment system open in front of them? Between myself and my two children, I've booked literally hundreds of medical appointments, and I've never experienced a situation where it's seemingly done by throwing a dart at a calendar. It's a shame because the practice used to be very professionally run, but what's the use of having staff to book appointments if it's virtually impossible to... book an appointment. Further, the person on the phone clearly didn't want to have the bother of dealing with a client. Fine by me, I've just used a convenient online booking system to go be a client somewhere else. And I'll advise anyone looking for a referral to do the same.
