One of the most thoughtfully curated, engaging, thought-provoking writers festivals anywhere. Truly one of the best Ive attended and Ive been to festivals nationally and internationally.

The Writers Festival had a 2021 interview with Guy Vanderhaeghe, the Saskatchewan novelist, about his most recent novel, August into Winter. I wrote a comment at the time based on the interview without having read the book. I only discovered after I had read the book and went to post another comment that my first comment had been removed. The interviewer, Steven Ritchie was obviously quite ignorant about Vanderhaeghe (he is not just a historical novelist) as well as August into Winter, which it appeared he just skimmed. By deleting my second comment, the Writers Festival engaged, for no apparent reason, in blatant disinformation. August into Winter is NOT an interwar novel, a lot of it occurring after the Second World War commenced, and Vadalia Taggart was never married to her lover Dov Schichert, and therefore not his widow. The budding Stalinists at the Writers Festival evidently disliked my reference to Trump Derangement Syndrome in both my first and second comment. This would seem to be their (undeclared) reason for cancelling me.

CAREFUL! - We gave them a one-time payment but realized later that they continued taking payment. We tried calling them to stop credit card payments but were never able to get through. We ended up contacting our credit card to cancel payments.
