In April an experienced, licensed plumbing contractor recommended and neatly installed a natural gas-fired, Navien 210A2 tankless water heater to replace our leaky and very noisy power-vented hot water tank. The Navien in comparison is very compact, very quiet, supplies ample hot water and seems efficient (hasn't been in use long enough to determine exact energy savings). However don't call Navien Canada and expect to receive a reply at any time! You will receive the usual patent rubbish automated reply of "(All our operators are busy servicing other customers"). I pray our plumbing contractor doesn't retire any time soon!

I've owned a Navien boiler for almost 8 years now; it's used for hot water and heating - it supplies the radiant in-floor system. It was installed by a skilled HVAC technician. Within a few months, it was needing repairs. I've had to have it repaired another 6 times since then. It's cleaned and serviced annually on top of this. It's cost me thousands to repair it over the years. The Navien support line is not only un-helpful but also rude and dismissive. Even my HVAC tech complained about it. Save yourself a lot of money and headaches - don't buy Navien products.
