*the* reason why we opted to go with Bucholtz is that the owner spoke directly to me to address my questions rather than merely acknowledging my husband when he first came to inspect our furnace / AC needs. Because he did this, it was safe to assume a whole level of technical and professional awareness that made us comfortable going with him. A lot hinges on this first type of interaction, I know, but we were right in allowing it to. He also tailored his own explanation of details thoroughly and in ways that aligned with our own professional sets of knowledge. He in no way spoke down to me and, rather, he validated my questions with intelligent responses that honoured my curiosity regarding things about which I know nothing. The time between the quote and installation was about a month. A crew of 4 or 5 came and knocked out the overhaul of our entire heating and cooling system in a matter of about 6 hours or so. They were respectful of masking protocols (I mean... so far as we could tell, as we didn't follow them around the entire day to be sure - we are pretty sticky about this one and it was clear they had no problem following protocols, even taking their own initiative to do so rather than following ours, as is the case with some contractors). They were tidy in their work and they were efficient and capable in the myriad elements of such installations. As we went about our day, it was also lovely to occasionally catch this team's respectful tone and demeanour; from the top down, it was clear that there is a level of mutual respect amongst employees, with leadership seeking to empower and instruct with respect for the team. Amazing. Regarding the furnace and AC, all we hear is *moving air* rather than *dying relic of a machine forced through our ducts* and that speaks more to our need for a new furnace than it does to this contractor, but whatever. They get the credit.
