Firstly No rent control (they don't explicitly disclose this fact so read the contract), expect from 3.5% up to 20%. Many tenants of 22West and 33 next door are on a rent strike in negotiations with Landlord "Dream" aka "Nightmare" due to unfair increases. The landlord "Dream" is a soul-less corporation that puts greed and profit above their humanity, they are a living contradiction, they are supported by the law which baffles my mind, isn't the government supposed to support citizens especially with the housing crisis Canadians are facing? Wow its a shame to see people moving in and moving out after 2 years because they get priced out for the next sucker to come in and pay even more rent, been engaged in proceedings for like over 2 years now and still the landlord has refused to compromise or even sit at the table. Safety - Ive lived in Johannesburg most of my life so I know about staying vigilant and regular crime, As time has gone on since i moved into this building there have been a number of violent incidents, and the frequency and severity of these occurrences has increased, not just in this building (stabbing, car break-ins, lack of security, random people and homeless sneaking into the building trying to get into peoples apartments), not to mention the surrounding area, just footsteps from the building there have been murders, shootings, hijackings, Honestly for the rent they want to charge for this place, its not worth putting yourself or family at risk, if safety is important, look elsewhere as violent crime and theft is on the increase in Weston, Remember to lock your doors, have alarms, don't leave valuables in your cars etc, stay vigilant. For the first 2 years the elevators were consistently breaking down which was a huge inconvenience for the entire building, very long wait times, sometimes having to walk up and down 22 floors of stairs, its gotten better recently but left a bitter taste. When you move in or out you have to go through the garbage entrance so everything stinks, people in this building will "hijack your move-in elevator" so have someone stand guard over your belongings and the elevator. The management (Rhapsody) have been good to me at least, Ive had no problems dealing with them and getting maintenance requests sorted out fairly quickly.

I would like to ammend my previous 5 star review. Living at West 22 has been scary, there has been stabbings in the building, a shooting in the open parking lot last night and a slew of homeless people making there way into the building and sleeping in the stairwell. The rent increases which has been above what should be legal.
