Ooka Island Inc

My boys, 4 and 6, love the interactive game appeal of Ooka Island. It's fun and the games change as they progress through the levels. The Ooka Island reading program has made a huge difference in their reading. My 6-year-old and I no longer have homework battles as he enjoys "going to the Island" several times a week to read. They are both identifying sounds everywhere we go and spelling words!

I found out about Ooka Island a LONG time before I actually realized I needed it. I saw the company represented on Dragon's Den, and I really liked the concept and the developers. Their story was inspiring and I sensed they really cared about what their company did and were passionate about their product. Fast forward a few years later, and I found myself a homeschool mom to a preschooler. I was overwhelmed with the idea of how was I going to teach my youngest to read. Our other two sons were naturally gifted and went to Montessori school, we had recently moved and I was now the primary teacher in our home. I looked up Ooka Island and was impressed immediately. That was 19 months ago and I am a BIG FAN! In fact I recommend this program to all parents. Our son was reading within months, he diligently wanted to spend time on Ooka Island because it was FUN! It is awesome that he can read independently on his own. Now we are in review and going back to master and better our foundation of reading and comprehension... he isn't in such a hurry to get ooka mists or free time. The program worked for us... but more importantly, when I had a technical issue, I could send an email and get a response in a very short time. The company would follow up. When I recently asked what I should do because our son had "finished' the program, they looked into his file, reviewed his weaknesses and strengths and reprogrammed it for him to re-do some levels. WOW!!! I can not say enough wonderful things about this company! And what makes me super proud... is that they are Canadian! Way to go Ooka Island team!
