(Translated by Google) Site of the Deschnes Generating Station Ruin Aylmer The waterways of the Ottawa River have been used since the time of colonization (and even before by the natives). In the mid-1800s, the site included a sawmill, a forge and a mill. Robert Conroy, a prominent businessman in the region, has a flour mill added. A fire destroys part of the land and destroys the flour mill. Later, Robert's sons installed a dam and a hydroelectric power station. As a result, the plant supplies the Aylmer sector with electricity. Today, the ruins of the power station can still be found along the river. Conroy Island, located in the rapids at Deschenes, bears this name in memory of Robert Conroy.

I really enjoy historical ruins of many different types. Of course when you think of ruins your mind might go to Ancient Greece or Italy etc. Its still fun nonetheless to view these old structures. The surrounding area is of course very scenic and the rapids are cool too. A nice place to chill
