Onside/ Meridian (dispatched by Intact Insurance) to complete pack-out and repairs, stalled repairs, poorly packed and stored our contents without a detailed packing list or box count, refused the repair and return of our contents during covid and then intact increased our insurance, on the grounds that the home was vacant. My elderly disabled mother who had severe health issues, was forced to come live with me out of province and lost her much needed care, equipment and belongings due to Intact and Onsides delays. Our home was owned and insured for 50 years and this is how they treated excellent long standing clients, who never missed a payment. Catherine and Jo-Ann Davies (R.C. Coull insurance ) who knew what was going on was wrong, couldnt stand by the contract they brokered or could no longer answer questions as to why this was happening, because they too have a financial relationship with Intact. They did however change the policy and removed most of the coverage previously granted, at triple the cost. Intact also delayed submitting my complaint to AMF so that they couldnt intervene, In a timely manner. This went on for almost three years to a disabled, elderly, widowed woman.

Called for a quote on a Tuesday . Was put through to a voicemail . Left a detailed message, and did not get a call back. I called again Thursday to be told that the guy that I left a message for was not in the office . He was the only one who does commercial insurance, so would have to wait. Went online and got a quote from numerous companies in less than 10 minutes . Tired to give a local business the chance, versus going to a robot. But when the robot gives you better customer service , makes it hard to want to deal with this business .

We had a reasonable relationship with this insurance broker at first, when all they had to do was recommend the right policies for our car and houses. When the time came to make a claim from our reputable insurance company, we had an awful, unprofessional experience. In our frustration, we approached our broker to get her to intervene. She defended the insurance company vigorously, and said there was little she could do, that we had to handle it ourselves. Months before our policy renewal date, we advised our broker that we wanted to switch insurance companies. Still defending the old company, she agreed to switch us to a new one. She did not advise our old company within the appropriate delays (we reminded her for over three months) and on the renewal date the old company debited our bank account the amount of the premium ! Once again our broker said there was nothing she could do. We have now paid two insurance companies, and have to wait to be reimbursed by one of them, all because we trusted our broker to simply do her job. This has been an awful experience during an already challenging time. Do yourself a favour and find another broker who cares about their customers, not just about selling insurance policies.
