What a wonderful visit! Sondos and her lovely collection of books are a delight to check out if youre near old port. It was great speaking to someone with a deep appreciation and insight on middle eastern culture and aesthetic. I highly recommend the visit!

Great little bookshop with curated books from diverse voices from Arab countries, black authors etc. Cute atmosphere :)

It's like stepping into your friend's living room...if that friend *also* has sections of their library dedicated to Octavia Butler *and* Edward Said! The tightly curated collection appears to mostly feature titles in English (original and translated from other languages) by BIPOC writers. I love, too, the majlis (sitting area) overlooking the street -- I didn't partake, but it seems like a cozy place to relax. Please stop by whenever you're in this part of town because for a petite shop, Maktaba packs quite a punch! (Heads up: Up a couple of set of steps. Not sure if the space will be accessible in the near future.)

a little gem. Small selection, expertly curated around contemporary issues.Something for everyone. I didn't stay for long but got the feeling folks would be very welcome to stay and read and chat for hours.
