Montreal is a city of many churches, most of them Catholic. The change in religious, moral and social attitudes that took place during the sixties - the so-called "Quiet Revolution" (rvolution tranquille) - left many churches struggling to survive. Some of these churches were closed, de-consecrated and turned into apartment buildings. Place Delacroix, currently an apartment building, was once the Church of Jean de la Croix.
