I was in Montreal this February last working for a week at the Palais des congrs de Montral. The initial hotel I was staying at was shall we say "Crazy Noisy", and found out later it was known as a "party hotel". Not a great thing when you are getting up to work at 0600 and getting home at 2300. After the show, I moved to the Auberge Les Passants du Sans Soucy for some personal time.
This hotel was the antithesis of my previous stay. Quiet, but not library stodgy. Elegant with a historical feel. The staff was top tier; friendly, efficient, relaxed. The Sans Soucy is everything I am looking for when staying abroad. Intimate, it felt like home and every stress from the week went poof. Great breakfast and coffee included in an already wonderfully priced hotel. Location couldn't have been more perfect to explore Old Montreal, and close to all the main transit if you wanted to venture out.
My first night there it began to snow. I opened the lace curtained antique windows to look out, and there was Notre Dame of Montreal, a Seurat ghost in the night.
I have been all over the planet, and Les Passants du Sans Soucy is on the short list for a return visit.
Thanks again to their staff for making my trip to Montreal not just work, but a growing love affair with an amazing city.
