MATCHA ZANMAI

A cute shop just around the corner with a matcha-based menu of soft-serve ice cream, shaved ice, and teas. There is also a small display of dessert cakes. There are some tables around but it's a small space and may be good for pick up or short sit down. I have tried the zenmai shaved ice and the soft serve and they were both excellent. The soft serve is the perfect texture and not too sweet. The shaved ice had a balance of matcha throughout so the flavour was well dispersed. The staff were very efficient and friendly so we felt welcome even though they were super busy at the time. We would return to explore more menu items. Vegetarian options: It's a dessert place so all items are vegetarian.

Wonderful place. Delicious ice cream and treats. Food and service is 5/5. I only gave 4 stars because it can be a little pricy, as a university student I do take a hit when I come here but its worth it.

UPDATE: Yuki and her team handled my situation with such grace and respect. Im grateful for the amount of seriousness she put onto the mistake - truly demonstrating her understanding of the importance of respecting allergens. Im sure this mixup wont happen again! :) Asked for a kinako latte with soy milk, received one with regular milk. I asked an extra time to confirm that it was made with soy milk and the barista said yes. After some time where my stomach has been able to (not properly) digest it I can confirm that I was indeed served normal milk. Disappointing as the flavor of the kinako itself was very good, just wish they paid more attention :/
