My mother was transferred here two weeks ago. I was hesitant because of the low reviews that I have seen. I am happy to say that I am delighted with the care that she is getting. Everyone has been professional and kind and they all seem to be well trained and understand their tasks. She has been seen by a dietician, physiotherapist, doctor, etc. The food is very good, the call bell is answered when she rings. She is receiving excellent care. She is being taken to activities. She is being moved safely from bed to chair with a lift. Her room is lovely (a bit hot)...The facility is clean. She has been in another CHSLD for the last 7 months and went through things that nobody should have had to endure.

Sadly, this CHSLD is probably not unique in its normalization of neglect. Ours (in Quebec) has become a shocking culture of mistreatment of vulnerable care home residents. The failings of this establishment reflect a nationwide system in crisis, where some elderly people are treated worse than animals. One would imagine that, in the 21st century, we would have moved so far beyond this

Next to impossible to reach patients on the 2nd floor who must go through the nurse on duty at the time of the call. I have visited several times in the past, and found the nurses on duty really doing nothing apparent. Not at all forthcoming with info re my senior friend, handicapped, physically and mentally, who only has 2 or 3 rare visitors and no relatives. The patient is lucid but does not seem to be getting adequate care as she is always in bed. I believe that type of patient is not receiving adequate or stimulating care at that facility. She recognizes her friends but is always negative and unhappy and doesn't want to talk. She has no family (that I know of) to represent her here in Montreal. Since I'm not a relative, I wonder if she is being represented by someone. Being unable to ever ever call her because of line busy signal is extremely troubling. I cannot believe there is no better place for her to receive the kind of care that would actually HELP her.
