Its a scam. I went there, lost 15k$ (back in 2012) and a year of my life. They sell you the idea that the industry is looking for new blood and youre pretty much guaranteed to have a job when you graduate. The reality is different. If you want to work in a studio, prepare for an unpaid internship. If you want to be a sound technician at shows and events, prepare for years of stage technician work (assembling stage risers, putting cables in places and disassembling risers/ coiling cables when show is over) before even thinking of touching a console and getting paid for it. Prepare to work 60-80 hours weeks in summertime and eat peanut butter in winter when theres no job. We would often be told by teachers to go and watch this or that YouTube video.. and would learn more from an hour long video than a week of RAC education. They made us buy expensive books and never had any assignment or discussion about the book. The book itself was educative, but at the price you pay for the diploma, I wouldve expected the teacher to elaborate on the topics in the book or something more than nothing at all. During the year I was there we had 3 different school principals. The teachers too would change a lot, youd get a new guy mid-semester and never see him again next semester. Was it as awful a place to work as it was to study? I believe today its around $18k to graduate there. Retrospectively what I would do for 18k is buy the gear I need, some books to get the basic/intermediate knowledge and watch YouTube videos for more advanced stuff. You can learn a whole lot more if youre motivated by doing this 4 hours a day rather than going to RAC 4 hours a day. Get a studio internship where you will learn even more and get contacts. If you want to do sound for live events, youre gonna need contacts because the diploma itself is absolutely worthless for that matter. All that for an irregular job that doesnt pay well. Dont go there, dont go to Trebas or any other place that will not give you the diplome dtudes collgiales en techniques audiovisuelles. And still, you could get a better job doing a DEP and becoming a plumber, electrician, operator etc.

(Translated by Google) I went to this school! Recording Arts Canada | Recording Institute of Canada. I was even an instructor there for 2-3 years, hired without any experience :) when I think about it, it didn't make any sense. I would tell you that putting $18,000 in a fire or going to that school is pretty much equivalent. Trust me I have seen the tactics from the inside. On the other hand, if you know someone who is passionate about sound, I advise him to go to Cgep d'Alma or Cgep de Drummondville for the province of Quebec, it will take a little longer but in the end it will be equivalent price wise and you won't be fattening a private school's bank account with questionable enrollment ethics and techniques. Don't let passion blind you like it did to me, take your time and put your money elsewhere. They have a way of using your dream of making sound to line their pockets. If I can encourage a single person with a real passion to go elsewhere, it will already be done!! I went to this school! Recording Arts Canada | Recording Institute of Canada.
