(Translated by Google) An application that seeks to recover the maximum profit on food whose expiry date has passed. They prefer to charge service fees of $1.79 to users on each of their orders, to avoid "overcharging" merchants with their banner. These imposed service fees are not mentioned in any way on their site, nor on the application. There are some delays in preparing your orders that are to be expected when looking for a meal the same day. Really disappointed to see that reducing food waste isn't really FoodHero's primary goal.

Some of the advertised "discounts" are not honest . . Almost expired Bagels at 50 % off from $ 6.99 that are available at$4.99 everywhere else, fresh ... flashfood on the other hand gives discounts on the real store price ... From food hero.... frozen cooked lobster 30% off from$22 a lb!!!... So $18 ! Lb for frozen cooked lobster (than would have been a loss for the store because they could not sell them so they cooked them) ..vs $11.99 a lb for fresh lobster at Market value ... and the list goes on and on ..( bacon , chicken , fish , store prepared meals..all overpriced and then "reduced" ) So some merchants are very dishonest in the declared original value ...( flashfood on the other hand, I have found to always be an honest reflection of the original price charged in store) ... Some merchants are better than others at pricing and discounts... a 30% to 60% discount on an inflated list price is often the equivalent of regular price .. just do your math and know your prices . The flat fee that food hero charges is also a sore point .. whether you spend $5 or $100 they charge the same fee.. whereas with flashfood the fee is zero.. it's included in the price.. .. there are some good deals , mostly on baked items.. and sometimes other categories.. fish( the worst ) and prepared meals I have found to be a a rip off 90% of the time. Those are pure greed on part of the retailer these issues are entirely out of the foodhero app control.. merchants set prices and discounts....the customer service at foodhero is thorough and fair.. be prepared to be documented if you have any issues and just keep reaching out...if your claim is justified, it will be honored.. Updated Jan 2023 They answered me with a reply that missed the point. My point was.. 50% off bacon listed by merchant at 9.99 per package ... when I can get it at 4.99 somewhere else , with no discount and fresher, is not really a 50% discount is it? offering huge discounts on inflated prices is an old trick.. ( Canadian tire are pros at this) This is the retailer gouging.. not food hero... So know your prices !
