Wonderful bistro in the heart of old Quebec. Have been there several times now on trips to QC and always provides a welcoming atmosphere. The food is also really good. We have tried the seafood options which were all great, including the special seafood stew (ragout). On our most recent visit we tried the Tarte Tatin with caramel and ice cream and it was out-of-this-world! Would go back just for that. Service is also friendly - even though they can get busy on Friday/Saturday evenings. Would recommend making a reservation before unless it's a weekday or after 7:30-8pm. The only minor weakness we found was that the wines offered by the glass were not that outstanding. But this is our go-to-place in the city for atmosphere and seafood.

After several disappointments from other restaurants, my husband and I decided to walk into Bistro St Malo not knowing what to expect. We were greeted by a very friendly waiter, the restaurant is comfortable, small with a nice music repertoire. We ordered the snails, onion soup and a steak frites. The onion soup is one of the best that Ive ever eaten anywhere, the steak served with french fries and a salad was delicious, tender, abundant and cooked to perfection. Finally we ordered the creme brle. The sugar on top of it was a little burnt but the dessert was delicious nevertheless.
