Here's a review coming from a real customer how has rented there for a month: the good: Good for taking Instagram pictures, the house is set up to take Instagram pictures and if you stay overnight for a couple of days, the location is good to go to different places in the Laurentides. The house is on top of a hill so when you walk around you have a nice view. If you enjoy interacting with owner of the chalet and practice French it's a good place to go, there are also small children so if you have kids you can find other kids they can play with. the bad: very limited privacy. You will never have the chalet by yourself. The owner lives there full time. There's a door inside your apartment that's connected to the upper floors even though the owner doesn't use it when you are there, you can hear every noise upstairs. In the morning you can hear toilet flushing from your bedroom too. The owner has small children so you will always hear kids running around. There are windows everywhere but most of the time you need to keep the blind down to have privacy as the windows are beside two sets of stairs that people use to walk to other parts of the house. Owner's children also have their toys in front of your front yard, so they will play in front of your window from time to time. The atmosphere is such that you will not feel very rested as you basically live in the basement of another family. And the owner expect you to keep her house clean, if you do not want her to come into your apartment to clean regularly, be prepared to pay extra in the end. She will take it out from your heavy deposit (in this case we lost $200, with a deposit of $600, which we are still in the process of disputing, two weeks after we left). So you basically feel like you live in your moms basement and have to keep her house clean the way she wants you to. If you are here to relax and don't want to worry about cleaning or having dispute later, do yourself a favour, book a hotel in Saint Sauveur earlier. The rates end up being the same. The few times we stayed at other hotels around we never had to pay extra for cleaning or worry about not getting our deposit back, over little things like leaving stains on the towel, or leaving hair in the shower, or leaving a dirty bowl in the fridge, or not folding the blanket. This is not really a hotel despite the owner tells you so, it's her house. So be ready to live according to her ways while you stay or you will be paying for it in the end. The owner is also not very responsive, especially after you have left but she still has your deposit in hand. In this case we had to proactively ask for our deposit back, only to get a response a few days later that she's not happy with how we left her house the way it was, and we had to repeated negotiate with her just to get a partial refund of the deposit. This is THE most unprofessional rental business we have dealt with, it's been giving us a lot of headache since we left. Also be prepared to pay CASH (if you don't want a higher rate). The rate she quotes you is in cash. In this case we paid 1.8K in cash including the deposit. Make sure you ask for receipt and take pictures of everything in case you run into dispute later. There is also other health concerns in this place, more apparent when you stay longer, I don't want to elaborate publicly as I think it's not an exclusive problem just to this place. The setting of the house for some reason makes you very aware of the highway nearby. there's a background noise of the highway always there, you can't really sit outside in the quietness of nature for more than a few minutes, the highway background noise gets annoying. Overall for the purpose of our stay, we could not really relax and enjoy everything we thought we wanted, so we did not renew for longer and moved elsewhere. In summary, if you are looking for a vacation place to relax, find another place that will give you more peace and a complete service for the price you are paying for.
