I am very disappointed with my experience. I applied for short term disability due to unforeseen medical problems. The length of time I applied for is two months. I submitted my claim July 20th and it is now August 31st. I spoke to my claim adjudicator. (Who was very understanding) However, she informed me that she requires more information from my doctor and asked that I call the office to let them know she will be faxing them and if they could respond as soon as possible that would help my claim. When I called the office they informed me that they received 248 faxes today to respond. They also said my doctor is on vacation till sept 9th and most like will not be able to respond to the fax until middle of September. How is it acceptable that I will return to work before I receive funds? If the information my doctor supplied in the initial documentation was insufficient then you would think it this would have been brought to our attention much sooner than 6 weeks later. I have been informed on many occations that they are experiencing a high volume of claims as of late. So this falls on the individuals who are already experiencing difficulties? I have explained my situation to the adjudicator and also explained the steps I have taken to help my return to work and that I intend to return on said date. So...what do you require from my doctor? Thankfully I was in a position to use my savings for my monthly expenses but this is quickly becoming an issue. If you do not have savings do not depend on saho. I have spoken to many others about their experiences with disability insurance and most tell me it was seamless. Never missed a paycheck. So why is SAHO so long??? Very disappointed.
