I originally gave the store and business 0 stars due to the "no refund policy". Since that post the review and less than 24 hours later the owner of the stores called me personally to discuss my experience with the store. He gave reasons for the no refund policy (people buying using, trashing, and returning items). I get that he's not Amazon nor is he Cabelas, that has advantages and disadvantages one is local and local I mean the money spent here stays in Western Canada at least (Head Office is in Winnipeg). The down side is having to compete with big box (Cabela's and the online only stores)
All that being said the owner and I had a pleasant conversation and he was accommodating and we resolved the issue to mutual satisfaction. I truly believe that local brick and mortar stores NEED to survive, and the only way is differentiation and a value proposition. By having the company owner call me spend an hour on the phone talking about my experience was that value proposition and differentiation. Jeff Bezos would never call me, let alone even a store manager at Cabela's to resolve and less than positive instore experience.
