Dr David Lee is a great orthopedic surgeon specializing in knee and hip replacement and broken bones. I happily recommend this surgeon to anyone needing these services. ** Please note that Dr Lee is on sabbatical learning a new surgical technique for hip replacement surgery. It's been nine years since I first saw him in 2012, and in July 2021 Dr Lee performed a total right knee replacement surgery at Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre. This is my rating of my experience from the time of signing the release for surgery in October 2020. Photos taken 2 weeks post surgery or earlier. Dr Lee is bright, friendly and matter of fact. I found him to be honest, to the point and accurate in his predictions of the post surgery experience. Office assistant Amanda has been great to work with and always accommodates my errors in scheduling and communication with grace and humor. With regards to the actual surgical process, Dr Lee gave conservative advice so that I knew exactly what to expect in terms of mobility and pain. He referred me to the ARHC Rehab clinic for physiotherapy. Their team is top notch in a beautiful facility with great equipment. The artificial knee is strong and stable and has improved steadily since the surgery. I'm now able to walk, ascend and descend stairs, drive and do quick shopping trips... FitBit credits me with about 4000 steps a day. Unfortunately progress is relatively slow for me because of the lengthy wait for accurate assessment and diagnosis, since the original injury in 2002. I've lost significant muscle over the decades.. the associated tendons, ligaments and attachments have also deteriorated accordingly, some quite badly. If this surgery had been done 7 or 8 years ago, I would have seen greater benefits. Nevertheless, three months later, thanks to this new knee joint, I was able to prepare Thanksgiving dinner for my family of eight and clean the kitchen completely. This morning I returned my mobility equipment to the Red Cross. So much to be thankful for this year!

My 60 year old mother was told to wait two weeks to get casted after her surgery. Dr. Lee and the health care professionals all told us that we had to wait for their call to book an appointment. Its been 4 weeks and we were basically forgotten. When I called in to ask, the receptionist responded indifferently telling me that I should have called. Well last time I called regarding her surgery, she told me to wait for THEM to call. Although Dr. Lee was really helpful throughout the procedure, his receptionist could have been nicer instead of blaming the hospital or the patient for their inattentiveness.
