Riverview Health Centre

My mother was admitted on 3rd Floor East Wing in February 18, 2023. The staffs were really nice (Nurse Noreen, Jessie, Cindy, Janaya, Health Care Jose, Allan, Kriselda, and Rufina. However, I am very dissatisfied and disappointed with Dr Pooyania because I dont understand how mom had pneumonia if she had been checked on regular basis. RiverView was supposed to be to make people better unfortunately my mom got weaker there. Her water bottle were always far unreachable so she was dehydrated. Her table was supposed to be close to her bedside so she can drink when shes thirsty. Every time I visited, she was always asking for water. I wasnt so sure if she was really taken care of there. I dont know. She was taken to Victoria Hospital and then transferred to Grace Hospital where she later passed away. I am very, very, very disappointed how things went to worst if she was well cared for and could have gotten better and be still alive. Another thing I noticed when I was there, I had to asked why my mom was not being washed when her diaper was changed by Health Care Angela (with eyeglass). My mother had rashes as she was not cleaned or washed properly and Angela was lazy to washed her with wash cloth. If I didnt say anything she would have not done so. Very disappointed!!! I would write more from the time when my mom was there but it will be a novel. I have been observing.

My mother was there for less than a year, then she died. Her care was subpar to say the least and I documented and followed up with Riverview staff, leadership and WRHA as well. I am continuing to followup with Riverview leadership to help make changes so other residents and family do not have to go through what we did. Hope this actually helps and my review and opinion improves drastically.

RIVERVIEW staff knew my dad right away they recognized me without having to even say to staff i didint recall . My dad dying at home is his wish they got him on his feet abd positive about life about what life he had left . We were able to celebrate one more birthday and we had him for Christmas and we are going into new year . Its been hard with my family . The time at RIVERVIEW was some of my most cherished moments woth my dad . Iam going to miss him. I want to thank the staff abd especially Jenifer that she always made my dad and me feel really safe and very well looked after . My dad didint have to ask twice for her to assist anthing and she explained things to him like he was an adult . Cause he is an adult and he deserved dignity . Jenifer and other staff were good to my dad , he really recieved attention and they seemed to care a great deal . He had trouble with the tv for sone reason I never figured out exactly what the problem was but . Thats just minor . The rooms there are very warm abd they look inviting not as sterile in appearance as a hospital setting . It was a positive experience in a negative circumstance . Thank you RIVERVIEW you were really there when we needed you.
