To celebrate a couple birthdays, my girlfriends and I booked the executive suite in the hotel. We decided to stay close for supper and headed down to The Oval Room. To start with, I liked the sound of a wine based drink on the non alcoholic menu. I asked if that same drink could be made with alcohol (in my mind that meant replace NA wine with alcoholic wine). I got a completely different drink - a double gin. I hate gin! For supper, I ordered the Balthazar salad with a chicken breast. The salad came out as just a plate of lettuce and the chicken breast: no asparagus, radish, avocado, ricotta, etc. I thought I had misread the menu but checked online the following morning and realized I had gotten a $22 plate of lettuce. To top it off, the chicken wasnt cooked. Our waitress was great and did bring me a new chicken breast, but I didnt get a new salad. So I ate the half of the plate that wasnt contaminated and hoped I wouldnt be sick the next day. This was my first time dining at the Oval Room and I cant say Im in a hurry to go back.
