Very incompetent staff. My son just moved to Alberta and was buying a house so he needed money transfered from his Meridian account in Ontario to his RBC account. As per their specific instructions at the RBC in Alberta, I walked over a certified cheque from the Meridian Branch to the RBC branch in Beamsville. The RBC would not accept it, they would only take cash. Time was running out to put the offer on the house so rather than continue a futile arguement with RBC, I went over to Meridian and the good people there cleaned out all their tills and cash on hand to accumulate $25,000 cash. I (a 62 year old) walked to RBC with $25,000 cash in my hands. I advised my son to close his RBC account and find a more competent altenative which should not be difficult when you see how low the bar is at RBC. Even the good people at Meridian was puzzled.
