My first time going to this Clinic. Considering the amount of patients I saw coming and going, waiting 80 minutes didn't bother me. The doctor was fast but efficient and even though she was obviously very busy and probably a little overwhelmed, she took the time to answer my questions. Thank you so much Dr Nguyen!

I visited CDK on Princess Street on Wednesday May 11 with my daughter, as we had symptoms of strep throat. We arrived at 9 when it opened and waited about 2 hours which is understandable given the current strains on our healthcare. We saw the doctor and after explaining there have been confirmed cases of strep in her daycare, we both had symptoms, and that I had strep last year and it felt the same, he proceeded to tell me it looked viral and hes right about 50% of the time, and also that he does not do the rapid strep tests as theyre only 70% accurate,, which he felt was not much better than his guess. So, he took a swab and told us to call back Friday for our results and sent us on our way. In the mean time I was dealing with body aches, off and on fever, intense throat and ear pain. My daughter had off and on fever but thankfully her symptoms seemed to subside. I have an account through LifeLabs and noticed my results were in for myself on Friday morning and I had tested positive for strep. When I called the office, the receptionist told me the doctor didnt have the results yet but isnt back in the office until NEXT Friday, so I could not get a prescription until then. I asked if another doctor could review my results and prescribe an antibiotic and she said not without seeing me and that I would have to come back to the walk in. I asked if I could make an appointment since it was simply to fill a prescription for results I already had, and she refused. She stated the only way for me to get a prescription for my now confirmed strep throat was to once again, wait at the walk in, or wait another week until the doctor I saw was back. Of course as most people have to do, this means taking more time off work and coordinating childcare. I dont know if its because they want to be able to charge for two in person appointments, but seems like an absolute abuse of the system and terribly inefficient. So, I went back to the walk in and waited another 2.5 hours this time to have a physicians assistant look at my results and print out a prescription. Id be surprised if I was in the room for more than 30 seconds. I understand the strains on our healthcare system, and am sympathetic towards that. Unfortunately my family has been without a family doctor for 2.5 years, and with two young kids weve spent a lot of time using virtual appointments (now mostly gone thanks to the reduced funding) and walk-ins/urgent care. But the fact I had to come back to this walk in, wait all over again to see a doctor to prescribe an antibiotic for something already confirmed from a test result from a prior appointment is absolutely outrageous and a waste of everyones time and limited resources. I have never had to do this before, the prescription was automatically faxed to the pharmacy on my record, or the doctor would provide me with the prescription to fill should the results be positive. I cant believe this was their clinic policy. Unfortunately we will likely have to come back here as there arent many other options in the area, but I wanted to write this review to ensure others are aware of what you can expect, and maybe try to advocate more for yourself on a clear follow up plan once any results are received. And maybe, just maybe, someone from this clinic will read this review and realize that their current policies and practices need some improvement to save everyone the headache.
