Donate to the poor instead. I brought in a bin of clothing (several pairs of Roots pants, boy's suit worn once only etc.). They kept 20 pieces of clothing and paid me $35. That's $1.75 per item of expensive clothing. I wonder what they'll sell these items for? Better to give the clothes to the poor...not worth my time.

***I have updated the number of stars for this review from one star to four stars due to the prompt and understanding response I received from the store's owner/manager (below). I have kept the content of my review original, however, for others to be aware of the store's "official" practice surrounding buying back used items.*** I have been buying and selling at Once Upon a Child in Oakville for quite a while now. Now that I am back to work from maternity leave, I can no longer go during the day, during the week. And I prefer to avoid weekends as the store can get really busy. Tonight I decided to leave my husband at home to put the kids to bed on his own so that I could head to the store to sell some items and buy some shorts for our son. I thought I was being considerate by arriving at about 7:25PM, knowing that the store was due to close at 8:00PM. This - in my mind - would give the buyer plenty of time to sort through the items I was hoping to sell. Upon my arrival, one of the cashiers asked if she could help me, and I told her I was looking to sell some items. The outside of the store has signs all over about how to sell one's gently used items. I didn't see any kind of sign indicating that "sell backs" could only take place within certain hours. The cashier told me that the latest they would take items to sell was 7:00PM, since the store closed at 8:00PM. (In other words, I would not be able to sell my items during this visit.) I asked her where it said this, and she said "It's not on our website. It's a rule that has been in place for two years now." As though customers are supposed to be aware of all of the LITERALLY unwritten rules of the store. When I was checking out with my purchase, I clarified with the cashier (another individual) that it is indeed not on the store's website that sales stop one hour before the store closes. It was quite clear that I was angry at having wasted my time, and it appeared as though she considered accommodating me until she saw that I had a large number of items to sell. Please update your website, Once Upon a Child Oakville, so you stop wasting people's time.
