moved up to to northern ontario in june 2021 decided i needed a generator. looked at generac then found sommers generators decided to go with sommers as they said canadian company built in ontario. generator installed last week of november. it seems to only run on manual mode will not auto start keeps tripping engine codes i lost confidence with this generator, started to think maybe should have gone with another generator manufacturer not sommers model 20kv fortress. would not recommend this company's generators right now, maybe i will change my mind in the future regarding reply from sommers installer - spoke to your tech dept they would not come up to repair until dec 31 this is a brand new generator approx 2 weeks old that's a hell of a support team. once you buy i guess your on you're own, great business policy dec 13 2021 - just spoke to sommers was advised they do not make home standby generators they are a dealer for briggs/stratton american company so my mistake, was assuming canadian company support canadian businesses, wont make that mistake again update may 2022 - local authorised sommers dealer/electrician was able to assist and it appears to be working as it should now. 2 power outages and it responded within a minute or so, does its weekly self diagnostic too. credit for this goes solely to the electrician, though, and not sommers, still can't recommend sommers to anyone not looking to go through cartwheels to get their genny working when its only been installed for practically 5 minutes and zero support (and it shouldn't matter if mine is a residential unit - their name is plastered all over it), a huge fail in my books. review staying at one star for that reason
