My personal experience with McGill has been really bad. It is cheaper to find cleaner apartments via local rent listings than to go through McGill housing.

In the summers this place is inhabitable as there is no A/C. Do not sign up for this residence. Update: I forgot to add that in the winter, the heating system goes out on a regular basis. Waking up in the morning to a freezing place is the norm.

I lived in this building from Fall 2017 to Summer 2018, during this time there had been at least 3 times(spanned from October 2017 to June 2018) that I see mouse going through my room or even licking my frying pan. I reported this problem as soon as possible and also scrubbed my kitchen and threw away all edible things that were unsealed. Things didn't improve at all, and in the summer after 2 consecutive nights seeing mice I filed a complaint about the unsanitary conditions to the university, I also asked them for a reduction of the rent because the problem was persistent and my daily life was seriously affected. They didn't even bother to reply my email. There had also been countless times when we were out of electricity/water/heating.(Imagine living in a building without heating when it's -20 degree Celsius out there). To be fair, they called exterminator after several tenants reported the problem at the same time and I think the mice problem is temporarily solved. But still, the living environment is hostile and moreover, the bureaucracy(Seriously, when I asked them to solve the mice problem for the second time all they did was to put more peanut butter on the trap) is really unbearable. Therefore, for your own peace of mind, avoid this place!!!!

I stayed here for one semester as an exchange student (Fall 2017), the rooms are old and dated, borderline unsanitary in some cases and for the price you pay in rent you can get a much fancier and newer apartment in downtown montreal/the ghetto. After feeling so fed up with the conditions a friend who lived here too and myself went to see the housing office multiple times and even saw the ombudsman....to no avail. When I was leaving I was told they were planning on updating/renovating the building the coming summer but from other reviews I don't think this happened. The Pros are that you're 5 metres from campus and the rooms are pretty big but otherwise some rooms have hardwood and others have this really disgusting old carpet (I was lucky enough to have a carpeted room). It's an old building but that's not the issue, it clearly hasn't been maintained or kept clean over the years and they don't really take student complaints seriously. Living in this res just made the whole semester so frustrating as I was constantly stressed and uncomfortable with my living situation and kept getting told they would change my room (it was a basement room even worse) but it never ended up happening. PLEASE save your money, or spend the same and get a better place
