I booked with HomeTrotting through Booking.com in the "free cancellation" mode. I canceled the reservation on time and the accommodation charged me CAD $ 650 in advance. For more than 30 days I have been fighting with the accommodation and booking.com to be refunded and nothing so far, even booking.com taking responsibility if the accommodation does not make the refund. Both of you will never have me as a customer again.

Hometrotting advertises itself as a corporate housing company which offers monthly furnished rentals in downtown Montreal. In secret, Hometrotting advertises all its listings on Airbnb for short-term stays less than 30 days with a fake Airbnb profile. The companys short-term rental accommodations do not obey zoning restrictions and are therefore illegal. The company was recently featured in local newspapers after renting multiple units in Old Montreal from Shiller Lavy and throwing bachelor parties in one of the two-bedroom apartments to be able to make rent. The companys owner is Amr Houboubati and can be found on LinkedIn calling himself the companys General Manager. I recently stayed in one of their apartments in the apartment complex Les Etoiles in Old Montreal. They rent about 15 units in Les Etoiles and conduct illegal short-term rental activity there. They have been active on Airbnb since 2014 and have close to 10000 reviews on Airbnb. They are one of the biggest illegal short-term rental operators in Montreal. They lease apartments from landlords with a one-year lease and re-rent the apartments on Airbnb. After the lease is over, they either renew or move their furniture on a newly leased apartment. This is clearly obvious if you have seen local Airbnb listings for any length of time because their same furniture shows up in different listings in different years. The company has hidden from the prying eyes of the local city for years and has secretly conducted illegal short-term rental activity.
