Boulevard Kitchen & Oyster Bar

For a michelin star restaurant I was disappointed with the experience and the food. The food was beautiful but flavourful was lacking. Hollandaise sauce was light and fluffy but flavourful was lacking. A couple of us order hangar steak and eggs medium rare and steak was chewy. Server was quick and provided good service but was also very dry and monotonous. The brunch and our bill was not cheap so expected much more for what we paid.

The seafood is delicious! We share a seafood tower, and each had a few other dishes (lobster bisque, lamb, seafood linguine). Love the different ways of preparing seafood, including pickled muscles! The Alaskan crab and salmon both just melt in the mouth. Our server, Tim, kept us entertained and informed. When we wanted a specific type of wine, he even went to check with sommelier.

Oysters were good, desert was good, steak was cooked well. Wine had some residue that we (family) hadn't seen before in any bottle we have ever had (family has been known to drink wine in our time). We noticed the residue in all our glasses. We mentioned to one of the staff and he immediately said he would comp which is great (the next bottle also had it - is it a bad batch?). The experience after at the restaurant felt a bit tarnished by other wait staff and their disorganized (attachement style) response... and since it was a 500+ bill... this was not ideal. I wish it was handled better by the staff and the people were more friendly/professional (and most importantly unified in their response!)... Everything was great until then... I am not sure, but I think that if you are spending crazy markups for wine at a restaurant... wine residue probably shouldn't be acceptable? I understand it is safe to drink but still.. it seems sloppy. But genuinely I don't know and I am curious to know. All in all, desert was probably best thing I ever had.
