On March 3rd, my 19 year old daughter (who has authorized me to file this complaint on her behalf) booked a free introductory tanning session online with the Fabutan studio located at 1921 Pembina Highway in Winnipeg. She read the disclosure carefully and was aware that she would need to purchase protective eye wear. I viewed the ad and it did clearly state that it was a FREE introductory session and did not require any additional purchase or contract. She arrived for her appointment and was assessed that her skin was very fair and the session would have to be a short session. She agreed. She was also told she had to use lotion and was told to choose one... she was not told the cost, or given options other than a scent. She was also told she would have to pay a drop-in fee and rebook her free tan at a later time. She was told to sign a waiver but not given any copy. She did not understand why. She was not given enough time to apply the lotion before the tan bed started so she hopped in without it. When she left, she ended up with a bill for $121.07. The eyewear was 10, drop in 20 and lotion 64, plus gratuity. She called me immediately crying that she had been ripped off and didn't know what to do. We went in the next day - no manager onsite - no resolution. We asked that the drop-in fee be reimbursed and the unused lotion be refunded. We left the unused lotion there waiting for a call from mgmt. We have tried repeatedly to get a resolution with no avail. Manager Alyssa was very understanding but has no authority to provide refund... only the owner can do that. They will not speak to us and cite their no return/no refund policy and refuse to give any money back. This is misleading advertising to the extreme. Service: Tanning

Great service - I know what you are thinking: "it's a tanning salon how great can the service be?!" Well I havent been tanning in a long time, I received great advice and recommendations from Kasha on tanning lotions, as well as how long to tan for based on my skin type. I truly appreciated this extra care!
