Hampton Inn is a newer hotel ideally situated within the downtown core of Halifax. It's front desk service us well trained and welcoming. The hotel services are perfect for a business traveler or a couple or a family stay. The rooms are very well appointed. Pool onsite. Small convenience store. Breakfast included with your stay. Parking is an adjacent paRking garage and for a nominal fee.

Location is good. Parking is a bit confusing and costs extra, fairly standard for hotels in the same downtown area. Staff were kind but looking at other reviews I think I must have been lied to? I booked a room with a king size bed. The room given had a queen bed. I was busy and tired from travelling so I didn't notice until bed time that the bed was queen size. My partner is tall so in order to share a bed and actually get a good sleep, it's got to be big. I woke up before 6 am, hours before planned, but on the plus side, we did get first dibs on the hot breakfast. More fresh fruit would be nice but pretty good for hotel breakfast. There's a little do-it-yourself waffle station. I asked at checkout what was up with the bed size and was told that no, that is the size of "their" king beds. I'm a bit over 5 ft (60 inches is queen width, 76 inches for king) and my partner is a bit over 6 ft so we work well for impromptu measuring sticks. I fit lengthwise across the width of the bed. My partner did not. The bed is either a queen or an olympic queen at most (66"). It's irritating because I would have chosen a different hotel or 2 queen beds instead. I'm pretty sure I was lied to though and we were just mistakenly put in a queen bed room since there are not lots of complaints in reviews regarding misleading bed sizes. Cleanliness was good. Noticeable wear and tear on the leatherette headboard, bad choice of materials for a hotel. The recessed shelf by the bathroom was installed poorly so there's about a 1/2" gap in the drywall where there's a load of musty dust. Quiet on the weeknight we stayed. View was beautiful. I didn't anticipate I'd feel uneasy by how high up it is and how large the windows were (corner view room). I'm not sure if I'd stay again. The bed size issue bothers me.
