I purchased a $150 gift card for Philippe's Day Spa in Indianapolis for a Christmas gift for my mother. Before she could redeem it the spa closed with NO WARNING! I've called Beauty Express and they refused to give me a refund. They instead gave me a list of three other places to go which do not offer the same services and have different people working. My mom sees a specific esthetician. The receptionist was not friendly at all. Told me "I'm lucky there is any place to go at all." That is not how someone in customer service should respond! Do not use this company!

My husband & son purchased a gift card from Pure Beauty (Beauty Express), specifically for me to use at Philipe's in Indianapolis, IN. I had the chance to use only half of it before the spa closed it doors. But, I had to drive to my appointment to learn of this...no call...no email. I immediately contacted the number (posted on the door of the spa) to inquire about what to do next & left a voicemail. My voicemail went unanswered for days. So, I emailed both, the person I had left the message for & customer service at Pure Beauty. In short, I was asking for a refund because what my husband purchased no longer existed. I received an email that said this (exactly): Hello I apologize customer service at beauty epxress Would handle any Gift cards for the location I will forward this email to them Still, days passed before my husband finally called Pure Beauty. He spoke with a woman who said they were "putting a list together" of spas in our area, who would accept the gift card. WELL, I got the "list" today...it consists one salon offering laser, skincare & massage services and one salon offering waxing. Neither of which are the salon my husband purchased a gift card for. (And not much of a list.) The gift was purchased because he wanted me to go to Philipe's, and get massages from Cheryl. Instead, I am being forced to drive farther and receive a massage of unknown quality from an unknown individual - a not so relaxing 45 minutes to and 45 minutes back - in a part of town quite far from my home and area of familiarity. He would have NEVER...I repeat NEVER purchased a gift that I would have had to drive almost an hour each way to retrieve. To quote my email response to this "list": In not refunding the gift card balance, they have transformed what should have been a relaxing & calming gift of escape, into the most stressful and dissatisfying customer service experience Ive had the displeasure of dealing with. This company is horrible at communicating & even worse at customer service. Chances are, you will not encounter the same scenario I did. But, I'm sure you can find a more deserving & customer accommodating company to deal with.
