Medical Doctors Markham

As a long time patient here, my experience has always been excellent. The doctors are extremely patient and thorough - always explaining in detail their evaluation. The staff are conscientious and always extremely kind & understanding. I'd highly recommend this location for anyone looking for a doctor.

Dr. James Zhao is very unprofessional and unreasonable. After I scheduled a physical exam, he requested a "COVID" pre-screen appointment with me at 1-2 PM the day after, since this was the only time he claimed to be available. I explicitly told him at the time of scheduling the "pre-screening" (which is a simple task that could be done via email or could even be handled by the receptionist), that I would have a work meeting at 2PM, so if he called me after 2PM, I would be unable to answer. On the day of the pre-screening, Dr. Zhao calls me late at 2:05, so it was obvious that I would be unable to answer his calls. About 10 mins later, he calls my wife and starts throwing a hissy fit and says my appointment the next day was automatically cancelled and that I would be charged $85 because I "missed" my COVID pre-screen call. He also starts yelling about how in 2 years, no one has been able to avoid paying his fees and rudely hangs up on her. Afterwards, he refused to take any new appointments unless I would pay his ridiculous $85 fee, even though it was his fault he had called outside of the time window he had himself agreed upon, and knew ahead of time that I would be unable to answer. This doctor acts like a child with a huge ego issue and thinks his time is more valuable than anyone else's. He needs a reality check and should treat his patients with respect rather than bullying them for his own mistakes.

I work with many doctors professionally I should know how they should be. Dr. Zhao has been our family doctor for 2 years now and since he moved here he has left us extremely dissappointed. We brought our two kids to the clinic for a visit to get shots for our youngest. We were brought to the examination room but since the older kid was talking louder than indoor voice (sorry), Dr. Zhao asked us to move back to the waiting lounge. Also, he mentioned that the children shouldn't be "running around" (they were within arm's reach at all times) because there might be needles on the ground. Let me repeat, Dr. Zhao said there MIGHT BE NEEDLES ON THE GROUND. So if you visit this clinic please be sure to be careful where you step, or don't visit at all I recommend. Dr. Zhao will also cut you off in the middle of your sentence with "Sorry one concern only per visit". He then said "Actually you already had two concerns so I can't answer anymore questions". He didn't even warn us about running out of concerns first. We weren't allowed to have questions after that. So next time I will begin my sentences with the item number of my concern "This is regarding concern #1..." and be sure to clarify how many concerns I used up already as often as possible. Overall I feel Dr. Zhao despises the fact that some of his patients are children and absolutely hates anything that could reduce the number of patients he can see in a day. I hope you have a better experience.
