As an experienced traveler, the Sandman Hotel in Oakville, Ontario Canada, ranks as one of the best. The service is great, location convenient (right off the QEW) and the rooms superb. If the rest of the hotel chain is like the one in Oakville, I would definitely recommend Sandman. Rooms: The suites are the best!

I visited 2 rooms in this hotel when I came here. One thing I will note is that there is no continental breakfast served here, and the rooms are pet-friendly. The location is good. It is surrounded by tons of shopping, restaurants, and attractions like Cineplex. One was on the 1st floor, a standard room/suite with a bedroom and kktchen that opened into a small living room. (There was no dishwasher in the kitchen though). It was nice and modern except for the ant infestation that was going on in the kitchen. On the same day my friend checked in, she noticed a huge cluster of ants that created a mountain just in front of her fridge. Seeing as she had just checked in a few hours earlier, I highly doubt she was the cause of the ant population. The other room I visited was on the top/4th floor. This room had no ants, and also had a second floor to it. On the first floor is the kitchen, living room and bathroom & on the second floor there is a beautiful bedroom that overlooks the living room. This room was obviously much more expensive than the standard one on the first floor, and much nicer. It too sported a modern theme & was clean and tidy.

Rooms and facilities are good. Staff is very good. But: Deceptive breakfast "deal" that benefits only the hotel, not the customer. Significant maintenance /upkeep issues. Details: 1. You can pay an extra $10/day per person to get breakfast. But you don't get breakfast for $10. What you get is a coupon for $10 credit at their onsite Denny's. So by signing up for their breakfast deal, you commit yourself to spending at least $10 at their Denny's. There is zero benefit to the customer to doing so. This feels deceptive if not outright fraudulent. If you click through the website there is fine print that says this is one of three possibilities when you pay the $10, depending on the hotel. 2. Our bed was soft and saggy and caused back pain as a result. Should be replaced. 3. The sink in the bathroom had partially broken from the wall and tilted downward by an inch, so stuff rolled off. 4. Inadequate surface area in bathroom for guest toiletries - just one tiny stand that already had stuff on it. 5. Our room was handicapped accessible with a shower. However, there was only a shower head and no hand shower, which is essential for most handicapped people who shower when using a shower chair. 6. The drain in the shower was higher than the rest of the pan, so that after showering there was standing water. Since rooms are not cleaned daily, that means you have a pool of water fermenting away - unless you use up all your towels and get down on your hands and knees.
