I first met James after receiving a charge of DUI in Ottawa, Ontario in 2019. I met with James In office, very nervous, he put my fears at ease. Communication was comfortable and honest. Due to Covid, it was only last week that I received the decision on my case. During these three years, James always remained in contact with me to let me know what was going on and was never further than a phone call away I can't express enough how important the constant contact and true care for my well being was shown. James acknowledged immediately that my rights were violated and it took little effort nor stress on my part to speak the truth. Regardless of the outcome of my charges; I would recommend James 100%. We were referred to James McGillivary from our our family lawyers to deal with a DUI charge for a loved one and we are so glad we were. James is a specialist in this area and his expertise resulted in the acquittal of all charges!! From the onset James was professional in all his interactions with us, understood our fears and anxiety, provided us with the clear facts (and risks) and developed a concise strategy to address the defense which in the end was successful. James represented me in a Covid Drinking and Driving trial that extended over a year and I was not happy with the performance. We entered the trial day where he was still asking questions on my background information that should have been recorded beforehand. For the amount of money I paid for such services, the energy and quality care was not there at all, and I wish I went to a different lawyer when I was first becoming aware of the negligence. He kept reassuring me that the witness was not going to show until the day of court where the witness was there in person. I feel he did minimal background work in preparation for my trial. During the extent of the services he offers he wouldn't answer calls due to being too busy, and gave me a lackluster experience for my hard earned money. Just would have liked to have my lawyer put more raw hard working energy towards my criminal case that I had hired his services for. He did give me a small sum of money back due to me pleading guilty early in the trial, and the result of it. I did appreciate this, BUT my goal was to pay FULL price for a full time lawyer that would treat my case like it was his future the trial would effect. Thanks for the read.
