Health care at St. Joes was a horrible experience. 7 hour wait to see a doctor, nurses laughing and talking at the counter about their private life- I had to interrupt them to ask for my husbands pain meds. We waited over an hour after then forgetting to get it. Perhaps more focus on the patients and less on the private lives of the nurses being blurted out for everyone to hear. Im shocked that with 11 nurses visible, not ONE was walking around asking anyone if they needed anything or if they were ok. Id rather pay, and get proper health care from the states! Do better nurses at St. Joes emergency room in Hamilton. Do better for our people.

Brought my father here because he lost complete feeling in both of his legs suddenly. The emergency department has been a complete disaster with unhelpful staff apart from Ricky and Shawn. The registration nurse gave attitude asking me why we didnt call an ambulance because it appeared she didnt want to help bring my father out of the car into a wheelchair that my family and I brought ourselves. My husband ended up bringing him out of the car which caused pain. When family members say something, take us seriously. If we could do something ourselves, we would. When we finally got into the emergency area, the staff scheduled an MRI, which requires my father to go on a bed. At many points I explained my fathers legs cannot move and no nurse or security staff helped get him into a bed. Finally at the MRI area, my husband and brother had to move him into the bed. What if an elderly couple came in and one person couldnt lift the other? This is what our healthcare system has turned into. A complete joke. If youre going to go somewhere for emergency services please go elsewhere. Id also like to add - these nurses who treat patients like numbers and give attitude when family members give information about the patient need a reality check. Dont collect paycheques and hate your job. If you hate people, work somewhere else.

Doctors dismissing patients without any care in the world, telling me they are very busy & had to call in an extra doctor so he doesnt suggest that I take any tests Im in the ER for a reason, not just for fun so that you can dismiss me after a 2 chat. Hope they dont treat all their patients like this.

Worse emergency place I've been in my life... Only 1 doctor working night shoft for the entire hospital. I had to wait for more than 2h before he can see us. I asked the nurse if they can do something she said sorry you have to wait there is only 1 Doc for the night.
