The experience all around was okay. The piercer was more than friendly, made me feel less uncomfortable as I was a young adult in a tween store. Piercer was very proud of her job albeit I recommend a refresher in training. She was aware that the piercing guns they now use are much thinner than ones used in previous years and are disposable. However I did not get to choose what set of studs I wanted. Amidst this the placement was alright, sterilized thoroughly. When my first ear was pierced the rubber glove got caught in between the stud and backing. Rather than removing the backing piercer attempted to cut the rubber glove out of place. While proceeding the butterfly back popped off. Piercers recommendations on cleaning were incorrect for the piercing placement. Her co-worker corrected her in regards that cartilage piercings take longer to heal, should not be twisted while cleaning, and should not be removed for an additional two weeks (in comparison to a lobe piercing). The one ear that had unforseen complications while piercing is irritated but not infected and I am taking extra precautions when cleaning. The other peircing however is healing as expected and is appealing to look at. Regardless of all this, I would go back again as I appreciated her engery towards every customer in the shop. In the future I may try to have a different piercer. However, in the middle of prepping for my piercings the piercer removed her gloves and went to the cash register to deal with another customer (whom of which either of us were not aware was in the store until the girl walked up to the till - with that being said I recommend two staff members in the store to deal with piercings and keep theft down, which the employee distressed was an issue with earrings missing in particular). Keep in mind, if I was a young girl, one should not leave in the middle of a piercing since they have a lower pain tolerance, they likely need some reassurance before getting the next. Edit: It's now been over a year and I returned for a new piercing. I filled out the forms and upon being seated, a different staff member actually told me it was "unsafe to do so, and would likely shatter [my] cartilage because it happened to [her] personally", even after choosing an additional two different locations to be considered (one an upper lobe), she didn't bother to look at the placement and promptly recommended that I go across the road to THFY, since that's where she goes for her own. It made me feel rather uncomfortable because I wasn't a five year old trying to pierce my lobes. If their own "piercer" isn't advising getting piercings there or willing to get their own piercings there, it tells you a lot. Regardless it was rather unprofessional, and kept referring me to ask "girl" when we were noticably similar in age. She did offer for the other staff member to look, followed by saying that "she would say the same, your cartilage will shatter" even though the other, older woman had done my original cartilage piercings. I have since gone to the location in Southland Mall, and it was all around a better experience. The woman was very knowledgeable, and happy to create a balanced appearance (prior to my visit I had 5 on my left and 3 on my right) by piercing my cartilage and upper lobe. I even admitted I was a little embarrassed by my age and she said not to worry, she often sees mother's get their ears pierced alongside their daughter's. I'd like to state, I do know the risks of being pierced with a gun vs. needle and it is my choice to do so.
