I had such an awful experience at this branch that I dont think Ill ever use the services of this bank. I had an appointment but it was cancelled because of the power outage, which is understandable. I went back the next day and met Juan Pablo Gaitan to open up a bank account as a newcomer. He seemed totally uninterested. First he gave me wrong information about the ongoing offer. He told me the offer had expired. I corrected him by showing him the information published on the website of BMO. He accepted it but then again started giving details which I knew were not correct. But this was only the beginning. I asked him which credit cards were available for newcomers at BMO, to which he replied by literally saying none. According to him, to get a credit limit of even 500 the only option for a new immigrant is to have a secured or a prepaid credit card- I knew this was not true. I had visited another BMO branch a day prior and the information I was given there was completely opposite. Mr Gaitan went on to make a sweeping statement that no financial institution in Canada can offer an unsecured credit card with a limit even as low as 500 to a new immigrant who didnt have an employer yet. I knew this wasnt true as I had been to two other banks, and both of them offered me an unsecured credit card. Now, what baffles me is that I visited this branch to give them business. I was there to open up a bank account and apply for a credit card. The credit limit etc is anyway decided by the credit bureau and not my Mr Gaitan..So why was I given the false information that would discourage me from choosing them as my bank ? Ill be very disappointed if this has got anything to do with the color of my skin or my clothing but Ive no other way to explain it.

Careless clerk put WRONG YEAR on certified cheque. Had to go to another branch and wait for a long lineup to get a new one. Waste of time!

I have been a frequent customer of this branch for years, and the customer service from the tellers has always been excellent and attentive, and available to assist with everything I needed, even obtaining US money orders or foreign currency. The lines here are always short, and I'm able to be seen quickly. This is in sharp contrast to the TD in 777 Bay where the lineup is frequently out the door. Unfortunately, the branch is only open M-F, but there is another branch nearby that is open on Saturdays. No parking because of its downtown location.
